چکیده

A dynamically reconfigurable large-scale multimicroprocessor system capable of operating as one or more independent SIMD (single instruction stream multiple data stream) machines and/or MIMD (multiple instruction stream multiple data stream) machines is described. The system consists of a Parallel Computation Unit, which contains N processors, N memory modules, and an interconnection network; Q Micro Controllers, each controlling N/Q processors; a Memory Management System, to load the N memory modules; and a System Control Unit, to coordinate the other system components. The way in which the Micro Controllers can form varying size groups of processors in this partitionable SIMD/MIMD environment is discussed.

Parallel Memory System for a Partitionable Simd/mimd Machine

PASM is a large-scale partitionable SIMD/MIMD multimicroprocessor system being designed for image processing tasks. To improve machine throughput, a memory management system employing parallel secondary storage devices and double-buffered primary memories has been devised. The memory system is an intelligent one, using communicating microprocessors which are dedicated to handling data requests ...

Design and simulation of an MC68000-based multi-microprocessor system

The design of a multimicroprocessor system for image processing and pattern recognition applications utilizing the 16-bit Motorola MC68000 and other off-the-shelf components is described. This system can be dynamically reconfigured to operate in either SIMD or MIMD mode and can be used as a building block for the PASM partitionable SIMD/MIMD machine. The results of simulations of SIMD operation...

A "Generalized k-Tree-Based Model to Sub-system Allocation" for Partitionable Multi-dimensional Mesh-Connected Architectures

This paper presents a new processor allocation approach called “a generalized k-Tree-based model” to perform dynamic sub-system allocation/deallocation decision for partitionable multi-dimensional mesh-connected architectures. Time complexity of our generalized k-tree-based sub-system allocation algorithm is O(k42k(NA+NF)+k 2) for the partitionable k-D meshes and O(NA+NF) for the partitionable ...

Partitionable Mobile File System over Ad-Hoc Networks

Most peer-to-peer file storage sharing systems work on wired networks. Due to the multi-hop wireless communication nature in ad-hoc networks, the development of mobile ad-hoc network file storage sharing system faces many challenges. In this paper, a hypothetical partitionable mobile file system (PMFS) is proposed. This new PMFS is a distributed file storing/sharing system built on partitionabl...

Data Collection and Recording Instrumentation for Command, Control, and Communications

Instrumentation has been developed to acquire and record performance data for analysis of Navy communications systems. The existing two basic models are modular, multimicroprocessor-based systems using state-of-the-art devices. They were designed to collect, process, and record performance data automatically (i.e., with little or no operator intervention). One is designed as a shipborne system,...
